We lost a Friend

I have sad news to report this month. Ed, our "Spotlight" for last month, passed away the end of January. He took a tragic fall down a flight of stairs at his apartment and ended up in the hospital. His health wasn’t good to begin with so going back in the hospital did not help. Ed passed away on January25th. He will be truly missed at our restaurant. Ed was a very pleasant guy who brought with him a lot of joy with his daily visits. We mourn his passing and our sympathy goes out to his family.

Vistas for Children and Good Stuff team up for a Golf Tournament March 31st.
We feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to partner up with this great charity. Vista for Children was founded in 1978 and initially was the primary support of the Institute for Families of Blind Children at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. In the year 2000, their mission expanded to reach a myriad of children with special needs. Vista still supports the Institute but has also helped Partners for Healthy Kids of the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, Cheer for Children in Redondo, Rainbow House Services of San Pedro, Richstone Family Center, Hathaway Children and Family Services and other deserving children’s charities.

Because of fund-raising events, the organization has disbursed over $4,000,000 to these children and their families. This year, with your help, we hope to help increase those amounts by having the Golf Invitational on March 31, 2003.

The event will be presented at the exclusive Palos Verdes Country Club. A Bar-B-Que lunch will be served followed by a Foursomes Scramble. There will be contests throughout the day (closest to the pin, hole-in-one, longest drive, etc). The day will end with a scrumptious dinner and auction.

Anyone interested in participating, sponsoring or inquiring about Vistas for Children in general please contact us or call Vistas direct at 310-316-5887.

We will also be posting the entry form for the Tournament on our web-site very soon.

Those of you who are wondering about our golf tournament from last year, we will be hosting the "Gary Bennett Memorial" most likely in September, the month of his passing.

Please get involved with this great event and help Children from all over our South Bay. My dad would want it this way.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Alice

Anyone who visits our Redondo restaurant during the week surely has been served by Alice. She has been with us at this location since we opened in February 2000. It’s only appropriate on our 3-year anniversary that we honor Alice as well. In actuality, Alice started with us when we first opened in Hermosa in 1980. Her stay was shorter; she worked only through the summer and moved on.
Go to page two for more on Alice.
