In 1980 I went to Dad again and said that I found a cool little place on the Strand and all we needed was 80k. He said sure. He took out a second on his house and we opened Good Stuff on the Strand. Never did he doubt that it would not be successful. Even though he was working his day job he still came down every weekend to help greet and seat our customers and he loved every moment. The Restaurants became his life. In 1992 he retired from his job and came on more fulltime in the restaurant. He was living his dream.
Over the years I learned a lot about business from my Dad - not the Restaurant business - the people business. It wasn’t what he said to me, but the examples that he set.
Dad loved his Restaurants and the people that worked and ate there. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
