Time to Reflect
As we begin September one can not help but reflect on the tragic events of last year on the 11th. The day our world changed forever. We were all affected by this course of events, some directly and others indirectly. I know that I am more appreciative of life, my family and our health. For those of you who lost friends or loved ones, our thoughts and prayers will be with you on this monumental day. May we all find some sort of peace on this 1 year anniversary.

What a Month!
Looking back to August - what a great month. One of my favorite events of the entire year was the competition of the lifeguards under the lights at night during the International Surf Festival. The local lifeguards from Redondo edged out Hermosa and defending champs Manhattan to win the Bud Stevenson event on Friday. Check out the Trophy and winning paddleboard on display in our Redondo restaurant. On Saturday night the team from the South Bay won in dramatic fashion in one of the best finishes to win the coveted Taplin Trophy once again. Congratulations South Bay Surf Club!
During the same weekend our Volleyball Teams did great playing well into Sunday for strong finishes by both our men and women’s teams. It is always fun being able to sponsor the same great group of guys and gals for the tournament. Thanks to all of you for the tradition.
We also had in August the AVP Tournament in Manhattan, with one of the best showings in recent years. The AVP has so much to do and see that it is a great event for everyone. Thanks to all that came down and ate at our restaurant on the sand that weekend. We had a great time and look forward to doing it again next year!
That is just a couple of great events this past month. So much fun in the sun going on in August, I am sorry to see it behind us.
Looking ahead in September, I would like to mention just a couple of events on the calendar. First on Sunday Sept. 8th Manhattan Beach hosts its annual Art’s Festival downtown. It is a great family event with crafts, games and music. Don’t miss it. The second event is the 12th Annual "Sunday by the Sea" benefiting the Hospice Foundation on Sunday the 22nd. This great event is in Palos Verdes and features a tasting of over 40 restaurants and wineries, including Good Stuff. Last year the event raised over $250,000 to benefit the Hospice Foundation. E-mail us for more info.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Elias from Redondo
| |
Meet Elias from Redondo. Elias has been with our company since early 2000 when he started as a dishwasher. My managers identified real potential with Elias and as soon as a busboy opportunity opened up, he was promoted. Elias has taken this promotion very seriously. He works hard to become a faster, more efficient busboy with a strong attention to detail. Elias also goes to adult school to improve his English.
For more on Elias go to page 2.
